About Us

Building successful NZ businesses in partnership with their owners and other stakeholders.

We help business owners to succeed by giving them the financial, tax and business information and support they need to make better decisions. In our firm, we care about our clients. We are interested in what interests them. We are accessible to them by our location and our use of technology.

Our History

In 1958, Frank Jolly started the accountancy firm and shortly afterwards, Don Stanaway joined him, operating as Jolly & Stanaway. In 1973, Frank and Don asked Gerald Duncan and Murray Wells to become partners, forming Jolly Stanaway & Partners. Don left the partnership four years later and the Jolly Duncan & Wells partnership was formed. Frank Jolly retired in 1982.

In 1986, the accounting practice moved to 127 Main Highway, Ellerslie. The building is now owned by trusts associated with Murray, Brian and Gerald's widow Carol Duncan. In 1996, auditor Brian Sheridan was promoted to director and bought into the practice. Gerald Duncan passed away in 1997. The practice was incorporated as Jolly Duncan & Wells Limited in 2000 and continued with Murray Wells and Brian Sheridan as Directors.

Serena Irving and Rupesh Parikh bought into the practice in June 2018 and Serena was appointed director in June 2018, as part of a succession plan.  The company was renamed JDW Chartered Accountants Limited in August 2018. Rupesh became a director in April 2019.

Current JDW Logo

We rebranded in October 2018, to give us a modern name and look. The circle represents bringing our clients and team together. The JDW and the aqua/blue colour palette acknowledge our history, with a contemporary style. Chartered accountants says what we do. The plus sign (+) represents how we go the extra mile for our clients. The tagline "Your trusted business partners" is also JDW's brand promise, that we are part of our clients' businesses.
